Multicolored Broom corns seeds are a sun-hardy grow and most commonly sown directly outside just after the frost with little reason to ever begin seeds inside. Seeds will take 7 - 21 days to germinate with full lighting. Plants grow too tall and densely seeded that they are not traditionally grown indoors. Plant 3 - 4 Broom corn grass seeds 1" deep in average, medium moist, and well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Broom corn seeds thrive in a variety of soils but will suffer in either extreme, over-saturation and dehydration. Plants are known to suffer from root rot, rust, and mildew if not properly drained or ventilated. Sorghum bicolor is not susceptible to any pests or diseases. Multicolored Broom grass seeds mature in 105 - 119 days as 48 - 72" tall grassy uprights with a 24 - 36" spread of dense ornamental grass and 6 - 8" seeded plumes.

The sorghum grain is used to produce countless varieties of human food, animal feed, alcoholic spirits, and is a compound in ethanol production. Although Broom Corn grass is not actually related to corn, it earns its name because it has traditionally been used by Asian and Africa cultures to make household brooms.
