Gold Nugget Squash is called oriental pumpkin because of its pumpkin like appearance. It is small, round, orange, with lines running vertically across the outside. Golden Nugget Squash is an heirloom seed developed in 1966 and is also an All American Selections winner (AAS). When sowing golden nugget squash outdoors make sure to wait until after the last frost. It is ready to harvest when the skin is soft enough to mark and has turned orange. When harvesting, leave a few inches of stem on the plant to prolong shelf life.
